TAKE A FREAKING LOOK AT THIS!!

So all the crabs and ocean life come around at night because it's too hot during the day. We decided to go crab huntin' tonight and found MANY crabs and a FREAKING amazing surprise. Check it out!

Everyone looking for crabs on the beach

Kade and Megan trying to trap a crab!

Kade and Megan caught the crab! Imagine finding THAT in your shoe! Ewwww!

Trav let the crab crawl on him. Those suckers dart and jump pretty fast. I don't dare touch them. In fact, when they run towards me I scream and run the other direction.

Bruce was catching hermit crabs all over the place. He got pinched a couple of times too! It was hilarious because being pinched a million times didn't stop him from catching more!

NOW FOR THE AMAZING SUPRISE!

A momma turtle leaving after building a nest and laying egss.

They have something down here called "The Turtle Program". The turtles come out at night and build nests in the sand and lay eggs. We happened upon this turtle that was 3 and 1/2 feet to 4 feet long from head to feet (stretched out) and well over 300 pounds! We were told that there are only 1 in 1,000 turtles this size! They estimated she is 15 to 20 years old and will probably live to be 150 years. She was building a nest and laying eggs. Trav asked how many eggs turtles lay in one sitting and we were told it was around 120 - and each egg is the size of a golf ball! OUCH!

It took about two hours for the whole process to take place and we weren't allowed to use any regular lights - only a red light. It's a federal offense to shine normal lighting on the turtles because it scares them away from the nest.

So...guess what I did?! I accidentally (for reals!) took a picture with a flash! I freaked out too! The picture I took didn't turn out tho. Thankfully we were able to take a picture with a flash (with permission) as Momma turtle was leaving.

As odd as this sounds, it was quite a miraculous experience to sit there and witness such an incredible creature create life.
